In the field of heavy industrial operations, good acoustics has long been a precondition in vouching for the good health of employees. There are therefore labour standards in place to prevent high sound pressure levels from causing hearing impairments among workers. This application of sound absorption measures in working areas improves voice intelligibility, while rendering noise levels highly controllable. For instance, Acosorb was engaged to deal with the matter of acoustics in the maintenance workshop at the EMO transhipment terminal in Rotterdam. EMO carries out maintenance on some of the world’s largest transhipment machinery at this workshop. Acosorb succeeded in greatly improving acoustics there by applying Acospray (35mm) to the profiled roofing panels.
